A Very Brief Biography
I was born (in 1977) and raised in North Richland Hills, Texas near Fort Worth. Growing up I was a smart, geeky, scrawny kid. I discovered roleplaying in Dungeons & Dragons but soon switched to Steve Jackson Games' GURPS with my dad and one of his co-workers Don. I'll be forever in their debt for a bunch of grown-ups letting a teenager play roleplaying games with them. Soon after I met some guys in school who shared similar interests and still roleplay to this day. I have a love of science fiction and fantasy books, movies and games, and I enjoy any kind of unusual board or card game. GURPS is still a source of unending fun for me to roleplay in.
I was raised Southern Baptist. But in my early teens I realized that the whole thing just didn't click with me. At first I thought I was agnostic, then finally came to terms with being atheist. It wasn't until college and my freshman year in the honors dorm that I really felt comfortable talking about my beliefs and being ok with them. I'm a very logical person and I simply don't see the proof that there is anything god-like out there. I don't rule it out. Several years later though I realized I wanted some sort of philosophy or belief to help me understand this crazy world. I read up on several religious and philosophical systems and finally clicked with Zen, the philosophy behind Buddhism. So I now consider myself a Zen atheist.
In college, around age 20, I began to realize I was far more attracted to men than women. The built guys at the gym were a complete distraction from my workout. I explored my sexuality the usual way thanks to the internet. I had a couple of boyfriends while I did a summer internship in Houston. That summer was so incredibly liberating for me, because I had the chance to make only gay friends and be completley out from the start. Soon after I was comfortable with my sexuality and soon met the man who would become my partner in life, Ian.
Ian and I live with our various pets in the burbs of Dallas now. I program for American Airlines. I'm so very lucky to have a fantastic family, friends, a good job I enjoy, lots of hobbies (did I mention in addition to games, books, and movies I like to garden, write stories, design games, and build model trains?), and so much more.
