I’ve been watching Mutant X lately. There, I said it. It’s one of those shows like Charmed or Buffy that you are ashamed to admit you’re watching, only to find out other people are watching it to.
The basic storyline is derived from the Marvel universe of superheroes, there’s even a legally disputed Marvel interest in the show. The funny thing is I came across the show at the end of season 2 and started watching, and out of curiousity browsed some fan sites for the show. This is a small budget show, and it is funny how obsessed some people are over not just small TV shows, but the actors on them!
Anyway, I’ve gotten a kick out of reading how fans are lamenting the collapse of the show. From what I understand it’s that typical thing where the first season actually had some decent scripts, actors, and sets/special effects and made some fans. Then, it all falls apart but just takes a few seasons for it to finally end. Hooked, like addicts to a drug, we all stare mindlessly at the TV until the end of the last episode.
But, other than the so-so acting, hit or miss storylines, and the fact I love anything sci-fi, why do I watch Mutant X?

Well of course. I discovered the forums for the fans of Mutant X and there are people who get very worked up about this show, in typical geek fashion. I have to have some sci-fi to entertain me, and Star Trek Enterprise just doesn’t do it for me any more!

*Shrugs* Season 4 is on now (best of episodes from Seasons 1-3) so I’m catching up on the first two seasons. They overdid the fight scenes and special effects, but I just have to like what they were trying for. Plus, Victor and Forbes are just as dreamy as ever
