A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

The 7th annual DFW GAYla Prom is over. I am worn out! Ian helped out a LOT the whole weekend, he’s such a sweetie ;-). It was great to see the gay youth have a great time and not have to worry about anything. I’ve loved helping with the prom, but I’m going to take a break from volunteering for a while before I burn myself out.

The cutest scene were these two gay boys, about 17 or 18, holding hands and wearing little black suits. I’m glad they’re able to do that and not worry what others think. For one night at least.

Had the family over for Mother’s Day and I think everyone had a good time. Tried to help Ian out more in the kitchen so I don’t leave him stranded there like I have before! My nephew Nathan, who has some aggression and attention problems, was very well behaved.

Otherwise, not much else. Work is slow, as always. I’m on a project (finally, after two years), but I’m just not that excited about it yet. It could be that I’m still doing App Support at the same time when I just want to do a project and be off of App Support, or that I found out at the same time that I got screwed over for a raise that everyone was supposed to get. We were supposed to get 1.5% (woohoo) for everyone, but some groups based it on reviews to give some people a little more and some a little less. I got a 2.9 out of 5, and was told a 3.0 was required for the 1.5% raise. The only reason I didn’t get a 3.0? I didn’t have enough project experience yet. Whose fault is that when I’ve been asking to be on a project for a year? Not mine! So, the next step down, is it 1.0% or 0.5% or something? No…zero.

Or, it could be that I’m realizing I’m just not that excited by programming anymore. Two years of dull App Support have worn me to the bone on programming. I’m seriously VERY interested in Game Design. I found two articles today about game theorists and game design, including this place that sounds pretty cool, GameLab.
