Only 5 more days til the first legal, unqualified gay marriages in the United States can occur in Massachussetts!! I’d thought about going up there, but they are choosing to enforce a 1913 law that was enacted during the last change to the institution of marriage, interracial marriages. Many consider the law outdated and unfair, and even possibly unconstitutional. Most clerks in the state ignore the law. It states that if your marriage would be illegal in your home state (which a gay marriage would be in 39 of our lovely United States), then you can’t get married in Mass. Daily the stories change as to whether out-of-staters from states with DOMA laws will be able to get married. Sounds like Provincetown will allow out-of-staters regardless.
