Or does it just feel like everything’s breaking sometimes?
Ian would get on to me for worrying about everything and overhyping it all, so I’ll put in a disclaimer here that I’m actually not that worried, and things aren’t that bad. It’s just annoying when several things in a row happen.
One of our trees in the front started REALLY leaning over (like about 60 degrees) from the constant rain and wind we’ve had lately. But, we put in a metal post and staked that puppy down yesterday, so it is not going anywhere for a while. Problem solved! (Now I just need to watch it to make sure that severe lean didn’t do too much root damage)
I’ve had intermittent problems with my iPod. It doesn’t start iTunes, it’ll have a disk error and have to be rebooted or reformatted. It’s only been severe enough for a reformat twice, once was yesterday. If I get it working and it’s ok for at least a month, I don’t think I’ll send it in, but if I can’t get it working or it has these issues frequently I’ll go ahead and get it replaced while it’s under warranty. All you get is a refurbished model if you do send it in, so I’m going to wait til I’m sure mine really has a problem instead of just a random, occasional glitch because I’m always leery of refurbs.
But, after reformatting yesterday and starting to load my music back on last night, my computer crashed and won’t restart due to some hard disk issue. It’s a Best Buy Compaq model and I’ve already had to bring it in once under warranty (they replaced the hard disk, cpu, motherboard, and ram due to what looked like a power surge…that warranty paid for itself!). I may just go get a new hard disk as whatever they seem to be putting in there appears to be crap. First, I need to recover my documents (my stories!!!) and come up with a back up solution. Ian’s backing up our servers now so I just need to find a Windows program that will back up my stuff to the server, or find a way to keep my documents on the server.
Now, knock on wood (or laminate or cardboard, whatever the closest thing is to wood we have around us these days), nothing else will break for a while!! ![]()
