Whew! A four day weekend. That was tough. I’m getting spoiled lately. Friday was my great aunt’s funeral. A sad occasion, but it was good to bring all the family together. Monday we had off for Independence Day. Fireworks always make me glad to live in the U.S. and be an American!
We almost missed them though! The Colony had their entire festivities on the 3rd. I thought it was just their fun run and BBQ, and the fireworks would be on the 4th. Doh! So, before going to see Chronicles of Riddick we stopped in the water park parking lot with a number of other families and watched Frisco’s fireworks. Kids ran around in the dim light chasing each other. Made me smile to look at them having fun, celebrating their country.

The Chronicles of Riddick had some neat sci-fi ideas in it, I really liked Judi Dench’s character. It was too much of a Vin Diesel action flick for me though.

Didn’t do much Monday. I think one of our trees in the front yard is dead. After having nearly fallen over from heavy winds and rain in June, I believe a lot of roots snapped. We have it tied up now, but the damage was done. Hey, if it dies, I get to pick out the kind of tree I want!!
