Had a good weekend, hopefully I’m refreshed for my first five day work week in over a month! (Only a month to go until Las Vegas baby!!!). Vic and I went rock climbing Friday then browsed for new games.
Vic, Jon, Marcia and Naji came over for games Saturday while Ian and Brian went shopping all day (got some VERY cool fabric for drapes, I can’t wait to see them made). There’s a new Talisman-like game out, Runebound. I really liked the rich environment of the game. Great artwork. The learning curve to get started, the balance between players, and overall game mechanics were good, but could all be improved a little. Finally played the other half of the game duo that everyone has been raving about lately (Settlers of Catan and Carcassone). I’d played Catan before and enjoyed the game. It’s well balanced, and moves quickly once you learn how to play. I think they milk you a little on the expansions if you want to play with 5-6 players though (each expansion has a 5-6 player expansion, meaning big $$ for the company). Carcassone is a fun, simple tile laying game that played easily as well.
And on Sunday, I shopped and rested.
It was fantastic!
