This I’m blogging about first (well, haven’t checked James’ blog yet, but I’m blogging it before Ian). I know that’s important to all of you. ![]()
Relaxed today after the wine party last night. Thanks to Brian it was easy to clean up after (and to a certain someone, the little spill came right up!) Today we started with a late breakfast at IHOP with the Frisco boys (and Andy who is visiting from out of town, and Brian). Let me tell you, The Colony IHOP is hopping on Sunday mornings!
Just took it easy this afternoon, chatted with Jai for a while, and went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. A really good film! I loved the ‘classic’ style with the soft lens (like vaseline was spread all over it, a trick they used to do) and grey colors, along the lines of Casablanca or some other film of that era, mixed with “retro” sci-fi (think Dark City, City of Lost Children, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). Along with good special effects and a good, humorous script made for an excellent Sunday afternoon movie.
Vaseline? Is that what they called KY back then?

No, not that type of movie! I always heard they used it to make aging actors and actresses look younger because you couldn’t see the wrinkles. In this day and age though, they probably did the whole effect digitally.
September 20, 2004 @ 11:37 amHave you ever seen a Barbara Walters’ Interview on TV? See how fuzzy or “misty” it looks? That’s to hide what botox won’t.
