I was saddened to see this headline this morning. Not only did I grow up with the Superman movies and Christoper Reeve, taking off into the sky, fueled my childhood imagination and inspired me, but he had also inspired me greatly in the last few years. Struggling against his crippling injury, he gained more feeling and mobility in his body than doctors ever thought possible. That sort of strength of character is so inspirational. I remember right after it happened they gave him a few years of life at most. But eight years after the accident, he was acting in the WB show Smallville.
He was also a strong, visible voice for stem cell research, which could potentially solve so many medical problems (and if everyone would calm down, the ethical issues around stem cells could be resolved without completely banning the research).
Mr. Reeve, Clark Kent, in life and in costume a Superman, you will be missed.
