Well, the wonderfully relaxing long Thanksgiving 2004 weekend comes to a close. Had a great time with nearly 20 people over from my family on Thanksgiving day, and managed to give away most of the leftovers as everyone left. It’s always great to spend time with family and be thankful for everything we have.
Friday I […]

Finding Neverland (2004) starring Johnny Depp
Oh my god! What a fun film. One of those feel good movies that makes you teary-eyed by the end. It captured the spirit of innocent youth very well, and had a great message about allowing yourself to be inspired to take your imagination anywhere. Johnny Depp once again astounds […]

I had a flat tire yesterday. Doh! Luckily, changing it went smoothly and I still joined Brian S., Brian M. (whose b-day it was), Chris and Ian for an evening of food, a movie (Finding Neverland!!! such a great film), and then wine at Cru, a fun wine bar conveniently in the same shopping center. […]

Yeah! I have 512 MB of memory for my laptop now at work (I was only promised it about 2 months ago). Now when I click between my IDE and another app, I don’t have to play with my slinkies for a few minutes. The funny thing is we’re supposed to get brand new computers […]

Finished some of my winter planting (the pansies, I have nearly 200 bulbs left to plant…yikes!) this weekend. Fighting a cold though so I spent most of the rest indoors. Jai came over for dinner Saturday evening (Ian made a scrumptious chicken tabouleh) and we played X-Men:Legends on the PS2 for a while.
Trying to […]

Blankets by Craig Thompson
A graphic novel which my friend Vic recommended to me. If you’re not aware of or familiar with the graphic novel, you can oversimplify it and say it is a big, big comic book, but that vastly underestimates the growing new subgenre. While there are graphic novels of comic book super heroes […]

I had an idea for something like this years ago (dangit!), but I’m glad to see someone taking this a step closer to reality. Like the movie The Incredibles, little pods take individuals (or families) on a rail system to their destination. It’s mass transit, but each pod can take a person or family exactly […]

Ok, this has been around the news and back a long time ago, but I just now got around to reading the infamous memo Alberto Gonzales requested of the U.S. Department of Justice regarding whether we’d get in trouble for torturing prisoners during the war on terror using certain interrogation methods (which aren’t really called […]

The Watchers by Dean Koontz
Just finished this as well (I read one book at home before going to bed and one at work during lunch). 6 of 10. Another enjoyable ‘airport novel’ (one you buy at the little magazine shop in the airport and can read through on a decent length plane trip…nothing worthy of […]
