In just two days, MT-Blacklist has blocked 20 spam comments. It’s kind of depressing to think the internet is quickly becoming a jungle choked with weeds like spam, viruses, spyware, etc. Sure, everything comes with more and more spam filters, blockers, etc. That stops you from being bothered by it, but it doesn’t mean the idiot who created or sent it is stopped. We’ll need more and more bandwidth to accomodate this trash. What percent of internet traffic will this junk max out at? 50%? 95%? Grrrr. Eventually we may move to an updated internet that may not be as free and open as the first one, but is more structured and identifies any data sent/processed and tracks it. Who knows..the internet needs to remain free but at the same time if nearly all traffic is junk, all we’ll see are climbing costs to access the net as providers and backbone companies are forced to install more and more bandwidth.
