A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Really pretty much a given that it’ll pass (it was a given the amendment would be created, sadly enough), but Texas has now put forth a bill to ban gay marriage into the Texas constitution:
A joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one […]

Yes folks, this is the exciting what we did this weekend report you all wait for
Saturday was good. Ian flew down to Bryan/College Station for the day and visited his family, including his new nephew! I went sailing with Laura, Jason and the boys on Lake Grapevine and had a great time. It was […]

Been thinking about game design lately. Had a couple more ideas for games, one is a simple card game, the other tiles-based dungeon game. Need to work on the actual gameplay of at least one of my ideas. I’m talking to SMU’s Guildhall, a program of study for video game design, on a tailored program […]

Marcia actually blogged this a couple of days ago, but I’ve had it in my head since she wrote it. It’s too funny. This exactly and completely sums up all 8 years (no need to even experience the last 4 of them to know) of the Bush administration. I can so picture Georgie with a […]

In other news, the state of Texas made sure that health textbooks accurately reflect, anytime they mention marriage, that it is the union of one man and one woman. (Link) Otherwise, I know all those kids out there would start thinking that marriage meant “a trip to Mars”, or “I can live my life with […]

In just two days, MT-Blacklist has blocked 20 spam comments. It’s kind of depressing to think the internet is quickly becoming a jungle choked with weeds like spam, viruses, spyware, etc. Sure, everything comes with more and more spam filters, blockers, etc. That stops you from being bothered by it, but it doesn’t mean the […]

Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith trailer
Looks good. Can’t wait to see it. Revenge of the Sith..in contrast of course to the later Return of the Jedi movie (once called Revenge of the Jedi…but the Jedi don’t get Revenge…the Sith do though) I’m a geek, I know it!

I managed to upgrade my MovableType installation to v.3.121 and install MT-Blacklist. I so did not think it’d work, I figured I’d screw up along the way somewhere. Ian is our sys admin and understands UNIX, Perl, and all that stuff to keep everything up and running.
I had become SO sick of comment spam and […]

I was angry, resentful, annoyed, and frustrated this morning with the election results. I went for my morning run with Caleb, and contemplated things. Lately I haven’t done much zazen (sitting meditation), but rather I tend to contemplate and let my thoughts flow in Kinhin, (walking or moving Zen). That was the case this morning, […]

As I sit here writing this at 11:42 in the evening (I need to go to bed soon!) the electoral college votes are 246 to 195 per CNN’s predictions. I’m amazed with voter turnout, some 88 million people so far, that’s got to be a higher percentage than normal.
It’s going to boil down to Ohio. […]
