A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Had a great Christmas-y weekend. Ian and I did our own little Christmas and had a great time Friday night. He got a set of Le Creuset cookware and a vase, I got a leather jacket, watch, scarf, and some sci-fi books. Yeah!! ;-)

Saturday I planted more bulbs (still have more…eck!! anybody want some bulbs?) Jai came over Saturday night for dinner and gift exchange (and we snuck a birthday cake in on him). I’ll just say…it’s very nice knowing someone who works for Fossil watches!! And, then we let him win at a game of Settlers of Catan. (That, or it had to be beginner’s luck)

Then, today, lest I get caught up in the gimme gimme of the season, I took the money my group at work raised for our adopted family and bought clothes, food, and gifts for them at Wal-mart with my co-worker Wendy. We had a blast. We wanted to buy SO much more for them though! Tomorrow morning we deliver everything, I’m very excited about that. Ian’s work had done the adopt a family thing for a while and I’ve been wanting my group to do the same, so I’m glad I finally got the ball rolling this year. We take for granted how fortunate we are sometimes, it felt so good to help someone else out for a change! My hope is to try and take a little of my money and my time every so often and keep doing something good for someone who needs it.

Depending on how well things go at work I could be off as early as Tuesday for nearly two weeks. Woohoo!! Thursday evening we head down to Vidor for the annual Riley Christmas Eve bash, then back up Christmas Day to spend that evening with my family.

No matter what your beliefs or your family traditions this time of year, I hope in some form or another you celebrate the things that are important to you with friends and family. Happy Holidays, and may the new year bring you peace, joy, and love. (don’t worry, I’ll blog again before the new year, I’m just in a good tidings mood)
