Starring Keanu Reeves. Some people rag on Keanu fairly hard, but I’ve enjoyed a number of his films. Yes, he has basically one style of acting plus or minus a few nuanced shadings, but it works well for some of his parts.
The previews made me think this was going to be a religious version of the Matrix, and it was, to some extent. Still, I really enjoyed it. Keanu plays the titular character who can see the demons and angels here on earth. He works on sending the nastier demons back to hell and has to thwart their plan to fully emerge onto this ‘plane’ in the movie.
Good special effects, and the movie is action-packed and full of an interesting Catholic-based dogma but is still able to laugh at itself in the right places. I’m in a generous mood today so I’ll give it 4 out of 5 stars.
