I’m generally pretty laid back. Sure, I’ll vent about the topic du jour, but otherwise I like to think I get along with most reasonable people. Especially at work. I just don’t care that much to get that upset!
(On a side note…I found out about the ‘pay plan’ today…1.5% raises coming soon…WOW!!! HUGE!!) </sarcasm off>
But as those of you who have known me over the years know, I can have quite a temper! In elementary school I got in trouble at church for pummeling a kid with billiard balls. Yeah. Billiard balls.
Well, I let this guy at work get to me today and I shouldn’t have. He’s a smart guy (I’ve complained about him on here before, FYI), but he’s, uh, got a fairly assured image of himself shall we say? Anyway, he tends to keep talking. Even when you’re replying. In a weekly group meeting we have it’s often the ‘hour we talk about what #### wants to talk about’. Today we were getting somewhere for once and two of us kept trying to talk over him (the other guy was even jokingly banging his hand on the table like a gavel to get #### to stop). So I said over his continued talking, loudly, “SHUT UP!” (no effect) “SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!”. That got his attention.
I apologized afterwards, but still it annoys me that I let myself act so unprofessionally here at work. What did make me feel better is the impression I got from others present and not present at the meeting that I pretty much did the right thing, or at least what they were thinking! Oh well, moving on. ![]()
