I’m tired of the anti-gay rhetoric in the news and in the legislative bodies of the U.S. The U.S. is SUPPOSED to be a leader in civil rights. Yes, initially, it was a social debate on whether being gay was a choice, could it be cured, is it an acceptable ‘alternative lifestyle’, blah blah blah.

The debate is closed. Thanks for your input. Science outweighs religion. Being gay is not a choice. It is completely and perfectly natural and normal. It is a distinct possibility that for any given member of the species homo sapiens (and its been proven for other animal species as well), that the member in question will be homosexual, not heterosexual. Scientific analysis by the most respected minds in American society (the AMA and APA) on the subject of body and mind have concluded homosexuality is normal, and it is actually damaging to attempt to ‘cure’ it or prevent a homosexual from living out a normal gay lifestyle (meaning having relationships with members of the same gender).

Gay rights are civil rights now. If you are against it, you are wrong. You are prejudiced, ignorant, brainwashed, uneducated (pick one or more which apply). It’s not right to blame these people entirely as their wrong beliefs are due to their upbringing and are the fault of others. Still, they are nevertheless in the wrong. As most educated adults in modern democratic societies will attest, denial of equal civil rights is a serious wrong which threatens societies.

Those who vote against full gay rights (equal rights for adoption, marriage, workplace protection) are quite simply, WRONG. There is no more discussion on this issue. Attacks on gay rights are attacks on a modern, equal democratic society and are a far greater threat to our modern culture than terrorism will ever be.

It’s time for GLBT activists and our supporters to take this stance. Stop arguing for gay rights. Demand them. The far right has thrown down the gauntlet. It’s on bitch. This is a full out culture war. If they want to take it further, it will be a true war.

I would far rather see the destruction of American society than the continuance of a society which deludes itself into thinking it treasures freedom and equality when it does not.

If you’re anti-gay, I suggest you shut the fuck up and get out of my way from now on. I don’t care to hear your backwards thoughts.
