Just a random little rant here. It really irked me earlier when I read an article about how the Texas legislature was unable to get to important issues like education funding and other critical matters. Apparently school funding will go to some default amount which even that could be challenged or blocked by a court and could seriously impact children’s education in our state over the next year. Several representatives were very upset that no resolution was made on several big issues.
That alone is of concern (that our elected representatives aren’t getting th business done they need to). But it’s the fact that they had time to debate and pass the anti-gay marriage amendment, but not get funding for children’s education that really chaps my hide. So, our state’s 50% success rate marriages will be ’safe’ from gays (still don’t quite understand the logic on that, but anyways), but the youth? Well, they’ll just have to play hopskotch and jump rope til next year when there are funds to teach them.
