A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

This whole issue on the filibuster astounds me. I can’t even comprehend the Republicans acting this way. I would expect a novice, young, heated city council member to act this impudently, not a seasoned Senator, which is virtually the highest elected office you can hold in this country.
The filibuster is a centuries-old, time-tested procedure to […]

I always thought those laws were stupid (the ones banning me from ordering wine from California but I can order it from Texas). I’ll have to check out wine.com again.

Friday was James graduation from CCCC, followed by his party at Dave & Busters, which was a blast! I forget how fun it is to play all the variety of games out there, win tickets and trade them in for stuff.
Saturday was our planned trip to the arcade game auction. That was fun, if crazy […]

Trying to deploy my project to the testing environment. There are apparently just a few LITTLE kinks to work out on the DB side of things like, oh, having a database for starters. *sigh* We have only one DBA, and he apparently didn’t feel like coming in very early today. That, and they moved his […]

I saw this on BoingBoing the other day then Ian had me go to the site. This is the handheld version you can buy. I’m sure the toy is very cool, but you have to check out the site, 20q.net. It can guess just about anything you’re thinking of! It’s creepy. (FYI it uses 20 […]

One mind at a time.
I’ve always felt like I would have accomplished some good if I could get just one straight person to take action on the part of a gay cause to help us reach equality. Well, I’ve done that today. I posted in our community message boards, and someone private messaged me that […]

Great article on two recent studies (hadn’t heard about the 2nd one in the article til I read it). Recent studies show the hypothalamus (related to sexual activity in the brain) of gay men and straight women responds to pheremones in testosterone, while only straight men responded to estrogen-based pheremones (the study of lesbians in […]

Doing more reading last night from the “Ways of Religion” I borrowed from James. Some excellent excerpts in there from every religion. It should be required reading for everyone to expose them to different belief systems, see how much they all have in common, and I think it is an excellent book to get one […]

Driving down business 121 this morning my iPod’s broadcast on 87.9 of Bel Canto’s “Shimmering, warm and bright” was interrupted suddenly by guitars and a male voice singing some country song about an itty, bitty world. Doh!! Someone else’s iTrip was broadcasting more powerfully than mine! I finally figured out it was a white SUV […]

Wil’s got an excellent summary of the dastardly REAL ID act which was passed by the House of Representatives without debate. Contact your reps and tell them how upset you are this was passed, particularly without any debate despite public opinion against it. Get the Senate and the President to stop it.
Otherwise, come May 2008, […]
