A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Random stuff: It’s Gay Pride Month in June in case you weren’t aware, and since my workplace is VERY gay-friendly (woohoo!) we have a big ol’ rainbow gay pride flag hanging from our 2nd story balcony. That rocks!

I’m becoming an audiobook fan. Several people at work love them, and I’ve always been tempted to get into them to make use of my commute. I sit there for over an hour each day in a car. I sometimes try to call people I don’t call enough (grandparents, etc.), and my iPod with all of mine and Ian’s fabulous music on it helps a lot. But I always wish I could be doing something with that time. With audiobooks, while it’s not productive necessarily, I at least feel like I’m getting to do something enjoyable with that time.

So, my sister got me an audiobook a while back which I enjoyed, and I just now bought with a gift certificate Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. It’s a fun, fluffy light read (what I call airport paperback because you buy them in the airport and read them while waiting for your flight), but I like it. I signed up for audible.com today and will download some books to my iPod tonight. For $22/month, you get to download two novels each month. Not bad when most audiobooks in a bookstore range from $20-$50 a piece. Plus, the promo deal I signed up with gave me 3 free books to start.
