Well, a nice, relaxing weekend. But I’m glad to be back home. We went to visit Ian’s family and saw his parents, sister, brother-in-law, nephew, other sister and her boyfriend. Carson, our nephew, is SO cute! He clings to his mamma though. He warmed up to everyone over the weekend. The more he sees all of us the more he’ll get used to us I think. That way we can give Amy a break.
We also went to see Ian’s parent’s property north of Austin. They have 3 acres on a creek to build a retirement home. It’s gorgeous. The creek is nice, you can just wade around in it and cool off. Made Ian and I start thinking about getting something like that some day. Have a small, simple cabin/house and go to it on weekends, for a week or two in the summer (hopefully if we both stay at the same place of employment we’ll have more and more vacation time!).
This month will be our trip month. We go to visit his parents next weekend in Vidor for his grandfather’s birthday, then the next weekend we go to New Orleans with Chris, James, Brian, and Layton.
In September we’re trying to plan our ‘big vacation’ of the year. We have about 7-8 days to go somewhere, and I think we both have tropical on the brain. We started out thinking Hawaii, but it’s hard to get to on standby, and it’s just a flat out expensive place! So, we’re considering other options. San Juan (Puerto Rico) seems nice, but I hear crime is high there. Costa Rica is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, but apparently that is their flood season.
So, I’d be glad to hear from all of you. Have a tropical destination that is affordable that you would recommend? The Mexico beach resorts are nice, but we’ve done that ‘all inclusive’ type trip. While I wouldn’t mind doing it again, I’m looking for something a little different that has a few sights to see/activities to do (a full week of just beach might be a bit too much!)
How about a cruise?
