A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Saw Fantastic Four last night with Ian. I think I came out of it rating it more highly than Ian did. I’m sure I’m a bit biased as I enjoy anything of the fantasy/sci-fi genre. Fantastic Four as I’m sure most of you know was Stan Lee’s first successful comic book hero team for Marvel Comics. Their time has long been overdue for a big budget movie in this time of overall rather good superhero films.

The movie is fun and simple. Not a complex plot to be certain. But the characters are likable enough, and the movie is well-polished and has excellent special effects. It strikes that delicate balance of knowing its not that high brow and having fun with itself without turning into a pure farce.

And, dare I say it and wear the pun into the ground, Chris Evans as the Human Torch is HOT!!

We saw it, too, over the vacation. I think I enjoyed it much more than The Spouse, who didn’t enjoy the Human Torch’s antics. Me, as a fan, thought he was dead on. (And I LOVED the fact he didn’t wear a lot of clothes during the movie and was once referred to as an underwear model. Hmmmm. Where are those pics…?)
