Recently saw the gay indie film Mysterious Skin based on the novel by Scott Heim.
Overall, a great film. Very well done, and I was impressed with the performance of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (3rd rock from the sun). First of all, this film deals with the very serious issue of pedophilia. How such horrible acts affect individuals into their adult lives is core to the film.
It’s definitely not light-hearted, but it stays true to the novel, almost to too great an extent, and maturely addresses the issue. I recommend it if you’re a fan of indie films. Three and a half stars out of five.
