First of all my heart goes out to those affected by Katrina. As devastating as it is, it seems that things aren’t as bad as they could have been. I hope the people in the Superdome end up being safe there.
Saw Brothers Grimm this weekend. It was fun, might be enoyable to see it again and get more out of it. Watching this film feels like you’re thrown into the middle carnival ride, being tossed about with fast-paced scenes, elaborate sets and costumes. The references to the many stories of the true Brothers Grimm are too numerous to count.
Overall it was an entertaining film. Heath Ledger and Matt Damon put more into roles like these than I would have expected, particularly Ledger with his awkward, gifted, idiot savant type character. In the end I had to shake my head and wish that Gilliam would have perhaps slowed down a bit and cleaned up the clutter. If he had though, the film wouldn’t have had that particular character about it that while overwhelming, gives it this warm, comfortable feel of a story full of characters and situations.
Three out of five stars.
Ummmmm, I don’t think we saw the same movie. It sucked!
Thank you for reading “Ian’s Short Movie Reviews”.
August 29, 2005 @ 3:04 pmI can understand the appeal, but it wasn’t my kinda flick. Besides, what moron puts Heath Ledger and Matt Damon in a movie and then fails to show us some skin?
