I’ve been a big fan of the idea behind Orion’s Arm for some time now. I’ve mentioned it here and there but never really blogged about it.
From the website, Orion’s Arm is:
Orion’s Arm is a bold new shared worldbuilding and creative writing project, creating and exploring a new vision of the future of humanity […]

Here’s some good news! California’s legislature passed a gay-marriage bill in both houses, the first legislature in the U.S. to voluntarily do so without court order. I’m keeping my fingers crossed the gubernator will sign it.
Even if their victory is short-lived, I’m so VERY happy for the Californian GLBT population. Congratulations!!!!

Sites too numerous to count on the web list phone numbers and addresses of places where you can make donations, online and offline. 25,000 refugees are expected in the Dallas area now in addition to 25,000 in San Antonio and 25,000 in Houston. I contacted the Dallas area emergency management office and they gave me […]

The slowness of the response to the horrible disaster unfolding in New Orleans is dispicable. I’m sorry to have to drag politics back into this like so many others are reluctantly doing. But the coordination of this relief effort is appalling. No one can truly be prepared for such a situation, but FEMA is mandated […]
