I got slammed with spam comments on my blog of late. I hadn’t been monitoring them closely as the new MT had been doing such a great job. After cleaning them up, I adjusted the settings, which are very powerful. I can ‘weight’ a comment if I’ve allowed a poster with the same name (registered user or not) to have an approved comment before, I can adjust the score negatively if the comment includes a bunch of links or if the domain they are coming from, linking to, etc. is in a spam blacklist. Then, I can adjust the overall rule to allow comments with a score above a certain level. Hopefully this will keep the bad stuff out and not filter any real commenters. In the coming days if you make a post and it never shows up, let me know. I’ve got notification back on, but I won’t receive any e-mail for anything the system thinks is junk, only items that are approved or are held for moderation.
