My grandparents on my dad’s side (known as Grandma and Grandpa) lived out in East Texas for most of my life on property my grandmother inherited from her father. Previously they lived in a house in Fort Worth. I was about 8 I think when they started staying on “the farm” (though it had a […]

Ian and I saw Underworld: Evolution last night starring Kate Beckinsale and the yummy Scott Speedman. The original was a great fantasy action movie about the vampires and werewolves that roamed the modern world. The sequel follows it up with more of the same, and like most sequels trying to be as good or better […]

I’m a little disappointed in this. Pixar has turned out some incredible shit and Disney has gone to shit in recent years. I hope they don’t try to micro-manage Pixar but rather let them keep doing what they’ve been doing and just skim their little cut off the top. You know Jobs is happy as […]

Or the closest thing there is that you can legally get with a prescription. Those cold pills my doctor gave me are just 400 mg psuedoephedrine, which is Sudafed X4 and are essentially the same thing that’s in diet pills and speed. It does clear up congestion. Only problem is I’ve had about 8 hours […]

Err, a state of contentment, I suppose. (Apologies to The Cure). Had a bit of a nasty cold this week that’s been going around work. Doctor gave me super drugs to knock it out though, and they’re finally working. Though they acted like speed the first night I took them and I just sat […]

While on the topic of memories, what better than to capture some on my blog? Jog the old brain cells and document it now lest I forget.
Who were your childhood friends and what do you remember doing with them?
Mine were Carey Ford, my neighbor, and Brian Joyce. Carey and I would hang out all […]

The story of a writer’s struggle with Alzheimer’s intermixed with scenes from her courtship with her husband many years ago, Iris, who is played by the wonderful Dame Judi Dench, is a simple yet poignant film about love and experiences. I love Dench and she is perfect for the part. In Iris’ more lucid moments […]

Ian and I just finished watching the movie Vera Drake. The movie was well done, and the lead actress turned in a strong performance. But it was just plain slow and depressing. Vera is a loving mother and wife and a maid/caretaker for several families. She also performs illegal abortions in 1950s England and eventually […]

Just finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. His work is what I would describe as modern fantasy fiction. So far I just have American Gods and Neverwhere to base this off of. His setting is the modern day world, but with a twist of the supernatural, magical, or otherwise fantastical. After reading two of his […]

The annoying guy next to me has his phone set to ring (on too loud of a setting) to various things: the Sith/Vader march from Star Wars, and an obnoxious rock guitar riff. Everytime the guitar riff starts, my cube neighbor Pradeep and I immediately drop what we’re doing, look at each other and begin […]
