A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

I’m a little disappointed in this. Pixar has turned out some incredible shit and Disney has gone to shit in recent years. I hope they don’t try to micro-manage Pixar but rather let them keep doing what they’ve been doing and just skim their little cut off the top. You know Jobs is happy as a lark. The most powerful shareholder of Disney runs Apple. It’s a more perfect media/tech merger (or near merger) than AOL/Time Warner. I’m sure all Disney properties will be on iTunes video store soon.

I saw the Pixar and Disney CEO in the news today and it sounds like Pixar is going to be the one changing Disney. I’m pretty sure Disney knows that Pixar is doing something right, and the Pixar CEO is now the single largest shareholder within Disney…so that has to say something about the purchase of Pixar. It certainly sounded like Steve Jobs was in control of things during the interview. I think we’ll see some good things from the merger, I hope my optimism helps!

I was also listening today to the news, and one of the aspects that hasnt’ received a huge amount of press coverage (though I haven’t checked) is the reaction of former Disney employees who moved to Pixar. I’m sure Jobs has thought of this, but Pixar wouldn’t be much without the animators.
