Ian and I saw Underworld: Evolution last night starring Kate Beckinsale and the yummy Scott Speedman. The original was a great fantasy action movie about the vampires and werewolves that roamed the modern world. The sequel follows it up with more of the same, and like most sequels trying to be as good or better than the original they kick up the action, violence, and the sex (seeing said yummy lead actor in the buff was definitely a plus!). Still, it was a fun action movie with an interesting take on the whole werewolves and vampires mythos. Even with plenty of flashbacks to the original there were still plot jumps that forced you to recall the who and what of vampire and ‘lycan’ (werewolves) history. Kate is just as bad ass as before in her black vinyl suit indiscriminately kicking butt. 3.5 out of 5 stars I’d say.

Oh, and on a side note, we saw a preview for Ultraviolet. Is it just me or does it sound just like Aeon Flux? I kept watching it thinking, “that doesn’t look like Charlize Theron”. Hey, if someone’s making a big movie, quickly roll out a cheap knock off and cash in on a few people going to the wrong flick. Nothing wrong with that.
