Despite everything though, I’ve been generally more relaxed than in the past about stuff. I just keep thinking, oh well, I’ll get to that eventually as well. It seemed though that this weekend was trying to test me on my new outlook.
First off I voluntarily worked away over the weekend to try to catch up to our unrealistic schedule. No such luck, still behind, just not AS behind as before. Then, I try to stain the fence finally. A tip for the rest of you, unless you really know what you’re doing, hire someone. After making a big mess and wasting time, money, and effort, Ian and I decided it just didn’t look that great so I’m going to pay someone after all to re-strip and stain it.
Then, last night my cat knocked a pot off a ledge and made a mess. Surprisingly, the pot was intact and the mess was relatively simple and dry. I jumped in and tried to save the plant of course, and in my rush I raise the plant, only to knock a bottle of wine out of our wine holder. It smashed to the floor making a mess of glass shards and wine-soaked carpet. Then, to top it off, we find out I cracked a tile with the bottle, so now I have to get someone in to fix that.
I still managed to have a nice weekend though, getting some yard work done (I even installed some new sprinkler heads that are taller so they won’t get covered in muck, restoring my faith in my ability to do tasks around the house!), and we had a nice picnic in the doggie park with Chris & James and their puppies.
Let me come have a look at your fence. I did ours and was happy with the way it turned out - maybe I can sort it out for you before you have to engage a “professional”.
