A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Thought I might start sharing with you occasionally the music I listen to. Music certainly isn’t as important to me as some people, but I do enjoy it. I tend to like dance, pop, celtic, meditative/trance/chant, and random indie artists which Ian introduces me to. Some of my favorite groups of all time have been Erasure, Depeche Mode, Clandestine, and Madonna. Yes, I listen to bubblegum pop along with the rest of the crowd. Deal with it ;-)
So here’s some new stuff that’s in the mix of late:

  • Cascada - Everytime we Touch Heard this on Logo’s Click List video countdown. Fun dancey bubblegum pop. Too funny though, an iTunes reviewer agreed with me that the song was catchy and great, but that every song on the album was the same beat with different words. I went and listened. As you click between samples, the beat doesn’t change in the least, it’s the EXACT SAME beat! So, I just bought the single. Doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it.

  • Depeche Mode - Precious Off their new album Playing the Angel. After a few dud albums with only one or two listenable songs they’ve returned to their synth roots that I’ve always loved. Still, not that many hits on this album besides this song which is classic DM.

  • Freezerpop - duct tape my heart I started the other day after buying some music clicking on the recommended artists in iTunes, listening to their top songs and downloading them, then continuing to the next link. Freezerpop was one of my discoveries

  • VHS or Beta - Night on Fire If you lived through the 80s whether you dressed goth or not you’ll know why I liked this group once you hear them. It’s creepy how much this guy sounds like Robert Smith.
