Very cool. I’ve always been waiting for better data mining applications like this to appear. The internet is this living, breathing thing with the pulse of billions of souls. The right software can visualize trends within this maelstrom. A lot of sci-fi over the years hints at such rich mining but you rarely see it.

Well, I met the group at the Dallas Writers Meetup Group last night at the Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. It was a great group with diverse writing styles. We do writing exercises, then read and critique each other’s works. Very positive, but good critical feedback which I liked. I’m looking forward to going […]

It’s been a nice long three day weekend. This week is short due to Memorial Day, next week is short for the wedding/honeymoon, and the next week I’ll entirely be in Key West. I think I can handle that!
Friday was dinner at our place with friends then X-Men 3. It was good, some enjoyed less […]

Had a great weekend. It started off celebrating Ian’s b-day in style at The Melting Pot (fondue) and the Velvet Hookah in Addison, both of which were a blast. The hookah lounge is a very laid back place with low lighting, pillows on the floor, and hookahs and drinks to enjoy while trance-y music plays. […]

Creating a law which makes English the official language of the U.S. is pointless and divisive. Anyone with the slightest bit of political acumen or awareness can see this as Republican strategery to separate themselves from the President and use it only as political leverage in discussions on the immigration reform bill. It’s immature and […]

Well this was going to be a post on a few different topics I’d read about lately that I wanted to comment on. Unfortunately I can only recall one. So here it is!
Java goes open source - Sun finally made the announcement to release the programming language as open source. A lot of people […]

I finally subscribed to a science fiction magazine. I placed a 6 month subscription to Asimov’s the other day, the pillar of the sci-fi magazine world. Hopefully that will give me a better taste as to what types of stories those magazines publish so I can work to write something in that area. In related […]

Ian and I went down to Galveston this weekend for his sister Kara’s wedding. Everything went wonderfully and the ceremony was beautiful. It was all done in a really nice historic hotel, the Hotel Galvez. Despite the short weekend and being busy with getting everything rehearsed, prepped, etc. we managed to get some time in […]

Comments are back on. I’ve played around with the settings. You get penalized if you have a single URL, including if you fill in the URL field. So, if you want to get posted, don’t fill in the URL field. If you do and you’ve been approved before, you’ll just barely pass the filter level. […]

Egads. I stepped up my weights today on my free weight routine. I can definitely feel it too in some areas. Surprisingly though, I didn’t have much trouble finishing my reps so I think I need to go up again soon. It’s been a while since the last time I bumped it up. To try […]
