A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Ian and I went down to Galveston this weekend for his sister Kara’s wedding. Everything went wonderfully and the ceremony was beautiful. It was all done in a really nice historic hotel, the Hotel Galvez. Despite the short weekend and being busy with getting everything rehearsed, prepped, etc. we managed to get some time in at the pool!

I was surprised, it only took us 5 hours to get there and slightly less to get back. I really expected a longer drive closer to 6 hours. One morning I got up early and took a walk along the seawall and just sat on a bench and watched the ocean. Galveston was the first beach and ocean I saw growing up and I thought at the time it was great. Since then I’ve seen Key West and Mexico beaches which are far more beautiful. Still, sitting there watching the endless, ceaseless ocean and its tides was very calming and soul soothing.
