It’s been a nice long three day weekend. This week is short due to Memorial Day, next week is short for the wedding/honeymoon, and the next week I’ll entirely be in Key West. I think I can handle that!

Friday was dinner at our place with friends then X-Men 3. It was good, some enjoyed less than the last one, it was about the same for me. I feel like they’ve done a good job with all three of the films, good use of special effects, everything is well done and polished, but there’s actually an interesting little story in there and characters who are fun to watch and get to know. One thing I really like abou the X-Men universe is the straying from the archetypal good guy/bad guy. The X-Men are obviously good guys. And Magneto and his team certainly aren’t good, but they’re not exactly evil. They’re more vigilantes. They even work with “the good guys” in the 2nd film against a common enemy. Makes for more interesting interplay and depth between some of the characters in the two groups.

Saturday was yard and housework, then shopping for various birthday gifts. Sunday we had my family over for Memorial Day and celebrated my dad’s and nephew’s birthdays. Today was a bit more yard work and tonight I head off to a writer’s group I’ve joined. I got all organized and printed all my stories to date into a little binder. I can bring it along and exchange works with others for critiques.

I’ve bought lots of pretty new outdoor lights with gift cards I’ve recieved lately. The yard looks so nice at night now! Going all solar from now on. So much less hassle. Anything that plugs in outside eventually shorts out, the cord gets cut, it’s always something. The solar spotlights are nowhere near as powerful as real spotlights, but they do add nice accent lighting.
