We’ve been eating delicious food all week courtesy of my hubby. Last night we had a tasty eggplant spread and a lemon chicken salad. It had fresh green beans in it which I snapped (see, I do help in the kitchen). I even did them in the white colander that either was passed down via my family, or looks identical to the one in my family, I forget. Regardless, it’s the exact same cheap white plastic colander that I grew up snapping beans into. Snapping away, I instantly was taken back to sitting with grandma outside in the shade in East Texas. We’d snap and snap and just talk about whatever. With their overabundance of vegetables out there of course we had bags and bags to go through. Later on she would can or freeze them. I suppose it’s silly, but just that simple little task brought me back in time and made me both sad and happy. Funny how our mind connects mundane chores to memories of people.
Dad brought me some fresh beans and fixing them took me back also. I still miss Grandma.
