A Zen gay Texan’s perspective

I signed up to try out the new Yahoo! Mail Beta and finally got it today. It obviously heavily utilizes the great functionality Oddpost provided including drag and drop, “tabbed” message viewing, message previews, etc. Overall a great, smooth interface that feels more like a desktop app than a webtop app.

They still have some work to do on integrating a calendar solution, but the address book and e-mail look great. Once they’re done with the calendar and it syncs seamlessly with a PDA or smartphone, this will be fantastic!

And in case you’re wondering, I didn’t misspell my title. It’s a new movement on the web and blogosphere to use a never-before-used term to provide feedback to software creators on their products. When you blog or otherwise put something out on the internets about a piece of software, use the term “freedbacking”. So the guys who make Yahoo! Mail Beta for example can search for “Yahoo Mail Beta Freedbacking” and get my feedback. (It may be search result number 250 or something, but hey, it’ll be there!)
