A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Yes, you read the title right. I cringed as well when I read it. With Web 2.0 in its infancy, Web 3.0 is about as dot-com-bubble as you can get. If you’re able to get past that and read the author’s post on the topic, he has some good ideas in guessing where the next phase of the web will be. I definitely think the power of having a huge number of actual humans on hand connected to the internet at any time wil be key in the near future. Virtual outsourced AI if you will.

One example of this already occuring is with CAPTCHAs (those images of twisted letters you see on websites to prove you’re a human). Already what is done to bypass this is the image is forwarded to a site where a person correctly identifies the text to get to a particular page (often adult content sites). The author also mentions existing efforts by Google and others.
So, if we can’t create AI, we can tap a bank of human net-connected intelligences. Get a large enough pool, and you’ll always have someone online who can tackle any problem that software can’t yet figure out.
