A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

Well the Treo works, even when you use it a LOT! :-) This weekend it got a good burn in. I think about 8-10 hours of conference calls for work on speaker phone. It got pretty warm (and had to basically have the charger plugged in like an IV all the time), but it made it. Good thing the calls were on the weekend with unlimited minutes, otherwise I’d be expensing this month’s bill!

I had an implementation in production. It actually went very well, I just had to investigate two issues that required multiple calls. I got sleep, it was just in weird intervals of 2 hours in the evening, 1 hour in the middle of the night, etc. Definitely would not want to do that kind of thing all the time!

And while I’m here I’ll rant. I hate bills, customer service, the whole bag! I had Verizon wireless for all of two weeks about a month or two ago, and I just now received my last bill. Actually, what’s even more sad is it isn’t my last bill. My last one will be next month saying zero balance. A full 2-3 months after I had service for two weeks! It was supposed to be charged automatically to my card (it was actually), but I got a bill the same day in the mail saying “Past Due”. Can you say separate IT systems for different departments that don’t talk to each other? Then I got a notice from the city. They have this dumb “alarm permit”. It’s basically a way to get another $20 in fees from you each year. I’d rather they just roll it into my water bill or whatever. But no, you have to fill out a form and present a check in person each year. If you don’t have it and the police respond to a call from your alarm, you get fined. (I understand the principle behind it, it’s just poorly implemented). Well, our permit is suspended because we didn’t read their minds last month and realize we needed to go get a form, fill it out, and give them a check. Apparently they just “try” to notify people. Ha! Try! Sheesh.
