A Zen gay atheistic Texan’s perspective

This weekend I flew out to San Diego to visit my friend Kris and check out the Comic Con. If you haven’t heard of it, well, go away because you’re not a geeky fanboy like myself. ;-) It’s possibly the largest (or at least most talked about in the mainstream media) convention dedicated towards comic books, graphic novels, and pop culture in general (read that to mean movies, television, etc.). Celebrities come out for the event, and Hollywood pushes their upcoming movies and television in genres ranging from science fiction & fantasy to action and adventure.

I left my camera in my bag at Kris’ place (go figure!), so here’s some various shots of the weekend courtesy of Ruben, a friend of Kris and Victor’s.

Got to meet one of the stars of Battlestar Galactica. I was in awe (I’ve never met even a minor celebrity before) so I think I said something stupid like “you’re doing great stuff with the show” or something. Saw Ando (Hiro’s sidekick) from Heroes, and got a good glimpse of Robert Downey Jr. promoting Iron Man.

And of course, lots of geeks dressed up in Stormtrooper outfits, as Wolverine, and many other creative costumes. I felt like I was home. Lots of good stuff coming out soon. If you’re a geek, looks like the movie Fanboys will be funny. As for TV, I’m going to check out Tin Man, a Sci Fi series related to the Wizard of Oz world, the Bionic Woman remake, and the Sarah Connor Chronicles, a spinoff of the Terminator series.

So which BSG actor? If it was Jamie Bamber I’m going to be so jealous!

No I wish! Chief Terrell. He had a shaved head and is much leaner than he usually is on the show so he wasn’t bad. But still no Jamie. ;-)
