It has to happen

Published on November 29, 2004

As an add-on to the dark, near future world I described recently (and is increasingly becoming likely that it will be the setting for my next work), I’ve decided our heroine will fall in love with someone who is off the net. But in the end, sadly, he will have died. Not before she is […]

Dark, near-future

Published on November 21, 2004

Just blogged about this on the main blog so I needed to create a note here. After writing my recent sci-fi novella, I realized it was fairly good, but there was one main problem. The characters for the most part were clean cut and nice, good people on a clean ship. I need something dark, […]

Election

Published on November 16, 2004

Latest game idea, card-based. Each player is a candidate in an election. The game is the campaign period before the election. The winner is the one with the most ‘votes’ (highest score). My goal is to create a humorous, somewhat realistic if cynical simulation of an election without being too biting or satirical […]

Lecherous Duke Bontleroy

A rotund, vivacious man. He’s lecherous, crude, and rude, but also very well connected. And, he believes in good causes, though he balances idealism with practicality and can sell out if it will really benefit himself and the people in his duchy. Think John Rhys-Davies’ Gimli from Lord of the Rings crossed with Lando Calrissian […]

The darkness comes…

Kind of gimmicky and would rely upon what materials technology is available. A board game representing a fantasy world of castles and forests, etc. with treasures and monsters. Each square has a peg hole at the corner. There is an extra game piece that fits in this hole and covers a random number of squares […]

Clever boy….

Published on November 14, 2004

The clever, shifty thief. Never sure whose side he’s on, or whether he’s picked your pockets or told you a lie. Generally he comes through on the side of good in the end, but mostly his number one priority is himself. mostly.

Atypical princess

Beautiful, powerful princess. Quirky though, amazingly so. Unlucky too. Being with her is a bit of a curse, but some just can’t help it, they’re drawn to her. Used for a bit of comic relief.

Young and foolish

Published on

Typical young adult male: cocky, sure of himself, you just know he’s going to screw up big time soon. Overconfident, impulsive, brags and talks too much. What’s even worse is when he’s actually good at something and saves someone’s butt, he won’t let them forget it

The old sarge

Older, gruff man. Handy with weapons, mech warriors, whatever the setting. Harsh and often quiet, he comes through in a pinch reliably. Doesn’t mince words.

Kill the elves!!!

Published on

Mentioned in another post for a story idea, I think it would be interesting to create an atypical fantasy world. Sure, it has your elves, dwarves, spells, swords, etc. But the races are not all in harmony fighting one big bad guy. Rather, the races are all at war. The out and out hostility elves […]
