A few friends set out on a trip and rediscover themselves.
One of their friends is very sick (undisclosed disease, could be AIDS but let’s not make it yet another dying of AIDS story). He’s gone off and left them. They get a letter from him out of the blue, telling them to come see him. They think he’s given directions to him, when really he’s set them on a scavenger hunt of people he met as he traveled. Each person they encounter helps them better themselves and gives the clue to the next stop. When they reach the end they find out their friend is already dead but left a message for them, and he hoped they each grew on the trip. The friends are a bickering gay couple, a promiscuous single gay friend, and a very introverted, closeted gay friend.
Possible people to meet:
• Elderly gay couple in love (help the bickering couple realize what they have)
• Young gay kid on the streets, maybe even a ‘chaser’. The ‘slut’ realizes he needs to slow down as he talks to this kid
• For the introvert, something about a closeted police officer. Maybe his department isn’t handling a gay bashing case like they should
Note. At least one encounter should end differently. Not just: talk, oh, lesson learned, here’s the next clue. Someone should die, fail to connect, fall in love. Who knows?
