Well the old writing engine is getting fired up again. I’ve been wanting to come up with something that touches my readers, grabs their emotions. You know, those moments in the movies or when reading a book where you really identify with a character and you’re rooting for them. Every now and then is a truly good character who you just want to win, or beat the bad guy or something.
I’ve also wanted to mix modern day and magic (yes, yes, a la Harry Potter but different).
So, the very vague idea is this: a teenaged boy in modern times with a dad he doesn’t like. A strange woman rushes into their lives and it turns out to be his mother (its not his real father so the dad doesn’t know her). As shocking as this is, she’s actually a sorceress. She’s come to grab him and protect him, and potentially train him. She doesn’t tell him all this at first so he’s angry at her, but he slowly discovers it and forms a bond with her. She fights mightily for her son, and one day he is strong enough to protect her.
Just an idea. Have to see where it goes.
