Not that matters, I don’t think anyone else reads this blog.
So one last game idea. As I was telling my friend Vic last night, the moment I say I’m switching to stories and setting games aside I get game ideas.
Ian’s been mentioning that he wants to have some more ‘traditional’ games to play with some of our friends. I tend towards the “independent press” of board and card games. The type that come out of the smokin’ hot European game market: Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, etc. We do need to have some good standard group games like Taboo laying around.
So, I was thinking, I’d like to take one of those and make it different, come up with a twist.
I came up with this idea and kind of liked it. For now I’ll call it “Team Talk”. The larger the groups the better. So, let’s say you have 12 people, split into 3 teams of four people. You go around in turns between the teams until one team wins with XX number of points, how ever many you want.
Each turn, a different member of the team is the person who will try to guess words. They have one minute to guess as many words as they can, and each correctly guessed word is one point.
The other three members of the team turn over the first card and look at it. It has one word on it. They can each think of one word that describes it. They then all say their word to the person guessing. They then have to guess the word. I wonder how many words would be guessed correctly? You’d definitely want to play with large teams.
So the word might be “baseball”. You can’t use any portion or variation of the word. You can’t say anything with “base” or “ball” in it. You can only say one word. You could say “Wrigley”, but not “Wrigley Field”. You could say “bat”, “base”, etc.
Maybe you pass the word around to each of the teams when you don’t get it right. In which case you don’t do the one minute turn, but some other turn format.
