When the rain falls

When the rain falls against the glass

I see a smile, but sad and somber

Ponder and wonder at drops of water

But green grass will yet squish between little toes

When the rain falls softly on the tent

The bride and groom fret

Some old crone bemoans bad luck

But ten years hence it’ll be clear skies over Tahiti

When the rain falls against floor twenty three

At the early morn hour of eight past one

Keys click at a rate of one eighty two an hour

But loved ones cuddle alone at home

When the rain falls on the sculpted hedges

Little girl you’re here no more

A score since you ran to my arms from thunder

But you’ll be finding your own comfort now on

When the rain falls upon the sands

These pained hands brush your silvered hair

Drops on glass are mirrors to the past

But I know I’m not afraid to go

When the rain falls the day after

I know you’ll have smiled in the limo, not cried

For there were so many choices to be made

But I know which ones I made

I made them with you

And made them for me

They are and will be my life

And the rain will always fall
